TRANSFER OF INNOVATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES

DEVELOPMENT OF FORMULATIONS AND TECHNOLOGY MODIFICATIONS OF ASPHALT CONCRETE BY WASTES OF POLYMERS TO ENHANCE ITS HEAT AND FROST RESISTANCE


Purpose of the development: High-mix for flexible pavements, ODO modified on the basis of the secondary low-pressure polyethylene (HDPE) and shredded tire rubber (HSP). To improve the performance of bitumen (strength, durability, resistance to rutting and cracking tiring).

Recommended application field: Manufacture of asphaltic concrete

Advantages over analogues: Disposal of the secondary thermoplastic polymers such as low density polyethylene (HDPE) with cages for packaging, which is partially vulcanized crumb rubber from used tires through the re-use in road surfaces, which will reduce pollution and solve the problem of the sources of raw materials for the road sector.

An effective way of bitumen modification is the use of plastic and rubber waste that accumulate annually in various fields of human activity. Plastics improve the high temperature properties of bitumen, but are not effective for low-temperature characteristics, whereas the rubber, ground tire rubber (HSP), improve low temperature properties of bitumen compositions, however, they are not effective for their high temperature performance. Combined in one modifier positive properties of plastics and rubber, not by simple mixing (since they are incompatible), and by using special methods: dynamic vulcanization of the rubber particles in the thermoplastic matrix. Modifier, thermoplastic dynamic vulcanizates (ODL) is produced from recycled plastics and whip. In this project, in order to increase the efficiency of bitumen modification in order to reduce the cost of production, as well as to improve the storage stability of ODL use modifiers based on recycled polyethylene and HSP. The use of waste polymers in hot asphalt mixtures not only make their economic, but also help in solving the problem of waste disposal.
