ECONOMIC COMPACT DETECTOR OF Y-RADIATION
Purpose of the development:
Detection of unauthorized transportation of nuclear and hazardous materials plutonium.
Facilitating the activities of customs services and the processing of scrap metal items.
Creating a source detection device gamma photons to work in extreme conditions and in conditions that require quick decisions.
Recommended application field:
- radioecology;
- metallurgy;
- study the distribution of the flux of gamma photons in the near-Earth space with the spacecraft board;
- equipping of border crossings in order to detect the smuggling of radioactive materials, and precious metals.
Technical characteristic:
- energy range of 40 keV - 1.5 MeV;
- duration of continuous operation on batteries, "Crone" - 600 hours;
- the time required to detect a 68% certainty excess flow above the 137Cs photons creates a dose rate of 0.5 mSv / h (50 mR / hr.) ~ 1 sec;.
- mass detector ~ 0.30 kg;
- diameter ~ 45 mm;
- height ~ 185 mm.
Advantages over analogues:
A stand-alone high-efficiency high-voltage stabilized power supply, which is located directly on the connector of the photomultiplier, and is powered by a small-sized batteries "Crown".
An original signal processing system of the photomultiplier.
