TRANSFER OF INNOVATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES

USING SOLID STATE NUCLEAR TRACK DETECTORS OF NUCLEAR RADIATION TYPE CR-39

Purpose of the development: Designed to solve the problem spectrometry light ions along the length of the tracks in the detector body and the type of charged particles by determining the ion energy, recorded on the analysis form etched tracks.

Recommended application field: - measurement of emitting radionuclides (isotopes of uranium, plutonium, americium) in the ultra-low level: less than 1 MBq; - monitoring of radon indoors and outdoors; - personal dosimetry of neutrons.

Technical characteristic: Tightly packed collection of pairs: CR-39 - sample. Exposure at low temperatures (the freezer). Radonometry - plastic container located inside the CR-39. Radon atoms easily penetrate through the cap with the filter. Alpha particles from the decay of radon atoms (and its children) form tracks in CR-39. Calibration is performed on the activity in radon chamber. FWHM alpha spectrometry: about 130-150 keV. Ultra-low background: 0.1 - 0.2 molded / day. Simultaneous measurement of long-term (several months) of several tens of samples. Minimum detectable 10-5 Bq. Activity: at the level (3-5).

Advantages over analogues: 1. Using this device type CR-39 enables alpha spectrometry in the range of 4-7 MeV high energy resolution. It can be used for selective radiometric isotopes of plutonium with a low content of radionuclides in test samples. 2. High resolution to the coordinates and the direction of motion of the particle. 3. Lack of effect of background radiation. 4. Ultra-low natural background. 5. Long-term stability of detection characteristics. 6. Unlimited exposure time with prototypes.

The development stage readiness: tested in laboratory condition
