Purpose of the development: The importance and urgency of developing a wide range of SES confirmed the Commission of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry, is included in the scope of activities of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Organization of Legal Metrology.

Recommended application field: Fund reference materials of composition of rocks can be used in all fields of study, consumption and use of natural and man-made mineral objects: rocks, soil, minerals in geology, processing industry, construction, agricultural chemistry, ecology and others.

Technical characteristic: The unit storage facility is the standard sample composition of crystalline rocks with the accompanying documentation, packed in hermetically sealed containers with a capacity of 50-100 with a shelf life, in accordance with regulatory requirements (GOST 3232-95, GOST 8.010-90) until the next re-certification - 10 years. The Fund must meet the following basic requirements: - optimal composition of types of sets (nomenclature of types that create a group should be adequate and not excessive); - matrix formulation of ESS largely must comply with the approved nomenclature composition petrographic rock types; - wide area and optimality of their use; - optimal use of findings (distribution obtained using DS findings on the set of samples analyzed must be sufficiently substantiated).

Advantages over analogues: The SES certification enterprises attended by about 50 leading laboratories in the CIS countries, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, USA. ESS Series was awarded the status of the industry with the right to issue recommendations for practical use in analytical laboratories.
