Purpose of the development: Ukrainian Institute has developed an affordable and effective way to clean the surface of the water and land from oil spills - sorbent "Torfsorb-1."

Advantages over analogues: By absorbing capacity "Torfsorb-1" exceeds zeolite sorbent 0-0,14 particle diameter, 0.8-2, 1-3 mm for cleaning hard surfaces and Ekonadin 2 when cleaning the water surface. Absorbency of dry substance is 1.20 g diesel oil / g of sorbent from the water surface - 0.68 g oil / g sorbent. Buoyancy is 95%.

The development stage readiness: Ready for application

Technical and economic effect: The relatively low price (up to 500 UAH / t), and ease of disposal after use.

Cleaning the surface of the water is carried out after removing the layer of oil or petroleum products, when only the film remains from the spill. The standing water on the surface of application of the sorbent can be performed manually or mechanized way. The saturated sorbent particles are collected petroleum product mechanized or manual method in the container.
