RICE WASTE RECYCLING INTO SILICON CARBIDE
Purpose of the development:
The waste rice production can be used as feed additives, processed into fertilizer or fuel.
Recommended application field:
Carbide can find a broad introduction to a variety of industries: metallurgy, power engineering, nuclear engineering, electrical engineering, automotive, chemical and other industries.
Technical characteristic:
Silicon carbide has good electroluminescent, photoluminescent and photoelectric properties, high chemical and thermal resistance, low thermal and electrical conductivity. Given these characteristics of the silicon carbide can be used as a basis for abrasives, refractories, structural, semi-conductor and corrosion-resistant materials.
The development stage readiness:
Ready for application
Technical and economic effect:
Production of large amounts of silicon carbide should take place in two stages with minimal energy consumption. The main product - the silicon carbide produced in the second stage. The energy costs of the process is 5.5 kW / kg.
Description of the development:
() Constant updating of waste in large quantities can be a source of raw materials for industrial materials. Rice wastes (straw and husks), together with an organic part are composed of up to 22% of the silicon compounds. Therefore, such materials may be new and promising source of raw material for the production of silicon carbide.
