An algorithm for finding the optimal solution for laser reinforcement of special wedge-shaped specimens and real tools manufactured using standard technology from high-speed tool steel P6M5. It is shown that laser heating makes it possible to obtain in the surface layer of P6M5 steel a reinforced layer with a hardness of 11200 MPa under strictly defined radiation conditions, which ensure the formation of a highly disperse structure, including martensite, residual austenite (13%) and complex carbides (20%).
