LASER STRENGTHENING OF ITEMS AND TOOLS WITH OUTSIDE CUTTING RIMS
Purpose of the development:
To improve the physical and mechanical properties of parts and tools.
Recommended application field:
In the industry in the manufacture of products that have a semi-limited mass and have small grinding angles and are made of high-alloy steels, for example from high-speed steels.
Advantages over analogues:
The main advantages of this process are: the possibility of forming in metal alloys structures that have high wear resistance, the absence of residual deformations, the ability to control the dimensions of reinforced layers.

Description of the development:
() An algorithm for finding the optimal solution for laser reinforcement of special wedge-shaped specimens and real tools manufactured using standard technology from high-speed tool steel P6M5.
It is shown that laser heating makes it possible to obtain in the surface layer of P6M5 steel a reinforced layer with a hardness of 11200 MPa under strictly defined radiation conditions, which ensure the formation of a highly disperse structure, including martensite, residual austenite (13%) and complex carbides (20%).
