MULTI-CHANNEL REFLECTIONS SENSOR FOR FIRE SAFETY SYSTEM

Purpose of the development: The sensor is designed to prevent false triggering in smoke devices caused by the similarity of the signal from smoke and dust when using optical light scattering technology.

Recommended application field: The development can be used to prevent fire in workers, warehouse, hotel and office premises, and also on railway and air transport.

Advantages over analogues: A specialized multi-channel smoke detector has been developed and proposed for the first time, which allows to separate the effects of temperature, dust particles and combustion products, as a result of which there is no false response.

The development stage readiness: Finishing off is required

Description of the development:
()
It is known that the fire alarm system (AS) belongs to the number of systems of the highest category by the criterion of responsibility for safety as the object on which it is installed, and people who are in it. Of particular relevance to the quality of AS is in aviation, in which it is customary not to fly, if the AS is faulty, and finish it in the event of receiving a signal from the AS (present or false) about the fire, that is, to interrupt the scheduled flight. World statistics show that almost 60% of the "fire" signals generated by AS in flight are erroneous, while reliability meets requirements and norms. As a result of the analysis of such false alarms of AS systems, it is determined that their cause is the same effect on the optical sensors of these systems from dust and smoke, that is, light scattering equally occurs both on the dust particles and on the smoke particles. The problem of the similarity of the signal from smoke and dust is also relevant for nuclear power plants, marine and underwater vessels, military depots, logistics centers, and aircraft. According to the Airbus report, of the 63 cases of smoke, 42 were false. Domestic scientists approached this issue through a fundamentally new physical phenomenon - the disturbed total reflection of laser radiation from special nanostructures. The possibility of using this phenomenon was investigated and it was revealed that dust and smoke can be detected separately. Separate the signal from the smoke from the dust signal is offered through additional channels that completely exclude the possibility of false triggering - with the effectiveness of other existing solutions from 40%. A multi-channel smoke detector consists of radiators and photodetectors located in different channels with different geometric dimensions. It additionally introduced a temperature sensor and a sensitive element made of glass with a deposited layer of gold, and as a radiator a laser is used, the angle between the incident and reflected optical radiation corresponds to the angle of the plasma resonance in the presence of molecules of carbon monoxide on the sensitive element. Sensors can be located in the luggage compartments and toilets of aircraft, and their cost is about $ 800, in contrast to less effective Western analogues, the price of which is up to $ 2000.
