Laboratory methods for the synthesis of ceramic composite materials based on boron and silicon carbides have been developed. A series of ceramic plates were produced by these methods, which were used to create experimental metal-ceramic macrolayered armored packages. These armored packs underwent full-scale ballistic tests at the range of the Central Research Institute of Armament and Military Equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Ministry of Defense. An act was issued in which it was stated that the tested armored packets corresponded to the 6th class of protection according to DSTU B 4103-2002 Ukraine. The know-how of the authors of the development consists in the scientifically-based selection of components of composite materials and modes of their synthesis, which allows to significantly reduce energy consumption in their manufacture, as well as in scientifically substantiated selection of the material parameters of each protective layer with the aim of optimizing armor protection and weight characteristics.
