3-D THERAPIC RADAR IMAGES FOR NON-DESTRUCTIVE CONTROL


Purpose of the development: The technology for detecting explosives using a terahertz 3-D radar in places of mass congestion: airports, stadiums, supermarkets, seaports, etc.

Recommended application field: Military industry. Safety and risk. Geology. Biology.

Technical characteristic: 3-D radar has a coherent frequency-modulated signal in the frequency range - (80-100) GHz with the measurement time - units of milliseconds. Distance to the object - up to several meters. The time of entering the operating mode is 5 minutes.

Advantages over analogues: This design and mathematical processing of the obtained measurements made it possible to obtain results that have advantages over existing ones, namely: a) new algorithms for recognition, clustering, adaptive digital filtering and structural representation of data for their determination are developed; b) a model of the test signal has been developed, with the help of which the characteristics of various methods of spectral estimation have been studied. It was found that classical nonparametric methods give a highly blurred form of the power spectral density, whose maxima are shifted relative to the frequencies of the test signal. There is a trade-off between the magnitude of the shift of the spectral estimates and their variance. Various models of harmonic oscillations are developed, the parameters of which are estimated by the least-squares method behind Kalman. This made it possible to improve the spectral distribution in comparison with the classical methods, since the time constraints of observation are compensated by an increase in statistics (the average over time is equal to the average over the ensemble) due to the integral-differential data.

This makes it possible to determine the electrophysical and geometric parameters of a substance when multiparameter probing an object. An informative parameter is the complex coefficient of reflection or transmission of an electromagnetic wave from an object. The radar is made in one copy. Laboratory investigations are conducted on the territory of the Customer on the verification of technology, which have been confirmed.
