METHOD OF CUTTING A PROXY-WINDOW WINDOW IN A CASING COLUMN


Purpose of the development: To cut a slit-like window in a casing for directional drilling of an additional wellbore in a well in order to increase its production rate.

Recommended application field: Oil and gas industry.

Advantages over analogues: This method allows cutting windows in rotary drilling and does not require the use of a screw downhole motor, as opposed to cutting the window in the casing using a milling cutter. Also, unlike the method that involves the drill of a drilling tool with a rake, it does not require insufficient wear-resistant rake elements that need to be changed more than four times to complete the process.

Using the multi-stage perforator as a cutting tool in the proposed method, extends the capabilities of the drilling technology, the method allows the use of an already existing well to create a new trunk from a previously unoccupied zone in the gas-bearing formation during rotary drilling, and provides significant savings in well construction. The main elements for cutting out the slit-like window in the casing are the perforating tool, which is attached to the tubing and goes down the well, magnetic catchers to retrieve the dismembered casing wall fragments, the deflector, the miter-column column cone (FCC) a cut window, as well as the subsequent descent of the drilling tool assembly for drilling a lateral branch, which consists of a bit and, downhole motor, weighted drill pipes.
