CARBIDOSTALS IN METALLURGY AND MACHINE-BUILDING
Purpose of the development:
The Ukrainian Institute has developed a technology and equipment for hot stamping powders of carbide steels belonging to a group of high-alloy steels and alloys of tool and structural purpose for working in conditions of intense friction and wear.
Recommended application field:
- metal-cutting tools - for finishing and semi-finishing of carbon and low-alloy steels, non-ferrous metals and cast iron with high cutting speeds;
- industrial knives, including - bimetallic, with a cutting part made of carbide steels, and the body part - of structural steel;
- tools for metal-free metalworking - working parts of drawing dies, dies, rolling rolls, die molds, etc .;
- gauges, end measures of length, conductor bushings;
- structural parts - work in conditions of intensive wear and tear;
- surfacing materials for reinforcement of wear parts surfaces.
Advantages over analogues:
Carbide steels manufactured by the developed method of powder metallurgy have such advantages:
- TiC grains (titanium carbide) are marked with a higher hardness than other carbides;
- relatively low specific gravity - 10-20% lower compared to steels and almost 50% - compared with carbide tungsten carbide hard alloys;
- increased wear resistance in 3-10 times in comparison with tool steels;
- sufficiently high strength, resistance to heat, corrosion and corrosive environments;
- in the annealed condition they are subjected to mechanical treatment;
- to achieve high hardness subjected to thermal treatment;
- the coefficient of thermal expansion is 50-90% lower than that of tool steels;
- decreased propensity to adhesion interaction;
- the coefficient of friction in sliding over metallic materials is reduced.
The development stage readiness:
Introduced in production
Description of the development:
() Carbide - powder composite materials. Their structure consists of solid refractory dispersed carbide grains (titanium carbide, titanium boride, titanium carbonitride) evenly distributed in the matrix phase from carbonaceous or alloyed steel with a carbide content of 15 to 70%.
Physicomechanical and operational properties of carbide steels: ability to be thermally and mechanically processed; application in the manufacture of instruments of complex shape; increased hardness and wear resistance; lower ductility and viscosity.
Developer resources for project implementation:
- technological and technical documentation;
- technological instruction for the production of products from carbide steels;
- design documentation;
- working drawings for the die block for hot stamping of workpieces from carbide steels;
- domestic raw materials for production: the developed technology is based on the use of almost 100% of domestic raw materials;
- long-term scientific and practical experience;
- scientific and technical team;
- equipment.
Developer suggestions for cooperation:
- manufacturing of products from carbide steels to order;
- introduction of carbide steels into production;
- the deployment of mass production.
