MECHANICAL PROCESSING OF ALLOYS WITH HIGH RESISTANCE TO WEAR
Purpose of the development:
The Ukrainian Institute has developed and proposes to introduce a method of machining alloys with high resistance wear (Gatfield's steel, high-chromium cast iron, various grades
tool steels).
Recommended application field:
Production of cutting tools in the form of inserts of various diameters for machining of parts by cutting (turning, milling, etc.).
Advantages over analogues:
- exclusion of energy costs for heating products for subsequent machining;
- Increase of productivity at sharpening of products in 6-8 times;
- increase in productivity when milling surfaces 2-3 times;
- providing roughness of the treated surface
2 classes higher than when machining carbide-tipped plates;
- reduction of the cost of machining a unit of production 2.76 times.

Description of the development:
() The problem of machining of alloys with high wear resistance: require additional operations to be introduced into the manufacturing process (heat treatment, annealing / quenching, local heating); high level of consumption of the processing tool; require additional grinding to achieve the required grade of cleanliness, which contributes to local overheating of the metal and the formation of grinding cracks.
The developer offers a solution to the technological problem by introducing the technology of processing products using superhard composite materials.
The development is a two-phase superhard composite material based on wurtzite-like boron nitride Hexanite-P with high cutting properties and resistance to impact loads.
The developer offers the following works for the implementation of the project:
- technological audit of the enterprise-customer (analysis of the existing production technology of the required products (casting, heat treatment, machining), development of a plan for the modernization of existing equipment);
- adaptation of the technology to the production resources of the customer enterprise (development of design documentation for the tool for the Customer's equipment (cutters, holders, etc.), drawing up a technological map for processing the required products);
- introduction of technology into production (supervision of the implementation of technology, provision of required technological indicators, training of personnel).
