GEOTECHNOLOGICAL BASES OF DEVELOPMENT OF GAS-HYDROTHERMAL RESOURCES OF DONBAS


Purpose of the development: Industrial production of thermal energy from sub-standard coal seams. Creation of additional storage tanks for hydrocarbons near powerful enterprises.

Recommended application field: Flooded mines with residual coal reserves of 2 billion tons. Reservoirs-collectors and the worked out space for the accumulation of heat carriers. Dense rocks in the coal-bearing thickness of the Western Donbass and adjoining geological structures with a high gas content (more than 2.2 trillion m3). Industrial enterprises near the mine. Housing and communal sector. Enterprises of the fuel and energy complex with limited storage capacity for gas.

Advantages over analogues: Synchronization of gas consumption and thermal energy in seasonal conditions. A complete exclusion of the boiler from the process of generating heat, which goes to the internal needs of mines and to surrounding settlements. Creation of compact thermal modules for economic purposes. Maintenance of environmentally acceptable hydrodynamic regime in the territory of mining regions.

The development stage readiness: Ready for application

Technical and economic effect: The degree of readiness for pilot testing of technology is 30-60% for different stages of the project. The volume of research funding is 2 million UAH. The term of the pilot-industrial verification is 2-3 years for different stages of the project.

The combination of degassing and gas extraction from coal deposits and gas-bearing structures with subsequent storage in suitable reservoirs. Attraction of gas storage tanks in aquifers near large industrial consumers in the Center and in the East of Ukraine. Use of heat from substandard coal seams in a flooded mine field by means of underground combustion. Synchronization of the active use of the heat resource and the annual energy consumption schedule.
