Purpose of the development: The goal of the development was the creation of a new breed of sheep as a basis for the development of specialized meat sheep breeding in Ukraine.

Recommended application field: Agro-enterprises for conducting sheep breeding, farms, whose activities concern the increase in the production of dietary ecologically safe products - meat, wool, sheepskin.

Advantages over analogues: The newly created breed does not have analogues in Ukraine in terms of meat productivity.

Thanks to the complex reproductive crossbreeding using the selection material of Canada, France and Ukraine, a new breed of sheep was created and tested, which was named Pridneprovskaya Meat. This breed is characterized by high rates of meat production and reproductive ability, it adapts well to the content and breeding in various agroecological zones of Ukraine. The average live weight of the sheep-growers is in the range of 115-125 kg, adult ewes - 62-70 kg, the first-borns 48-55 kg, the lambs 68-75 kg. The average daily growth in young animals before weaning is 350-400 g. Young growth of newly created breed at 6-8 months of age has a mass of carcass of 22-24 kg with a slaughter yield of 49-524%. The breed has signs of polyesterity. Fecundity of ewes is in the range of 142-145%. Using the sheep of this breed makes it possible to improve the meat quality of native breeds of sheep by 18-24% and increase the reproductive capacity by 12-16%.
