ENERGY EFFICIENT WASTE PROCESSING TECHNOLOGIES


Purpose of the development: Module reactor for gasification of waste based on steam-plasma technology with the core of plants for processing hazardous waste.

Recommended application field: They are used in industries where waste is recycled: bottom sediments of aeration stations of urban water treatment systems, unsorted solid household waste (they are dangerous because of the risk of entering into their composition of chlorine-containing compounds, for example - polyvinylchloride products), RDF, medical waste, overdue pesticides and other chemicals protection of plants, certain types of industrial waste, and the like.

Advantages over analogues: Plasma technologies are characterized by the best ecological indicators both in terms of emission of hazardous compounds (primarily dioxins and furans) into the atmosphere, and in terms of preventing contamination of the earth's surface by heavy metals (they remain in the molten ashes, and after its cooling incorporate into the frozen vitreous mass, safe for the environment - the so-called vitrification process). High environmental performance is inherent in installations using steam plasma at the technological level - regardless of the operator's experience or will.

The development stage readiness: Ready for application

Technical and economic effect: The module is designed in such a way as to ensure its payback by producing electric energy based on the products of gasification of carbon compounds in the waste. The payback period of the plant at the current level of "green tariffs" will be 3-4 years, and its cost is approximately 50 million UAH. at a capacity of up to 4 thousand tons / year, depending on the type of waste. Low cost indicators of the plant in comparison with Western developments based on plasma technologies are achieved automatically due to the low level of payment for workers in the scientific and technical sphere in Ukraine.

The project of the reactor and the plant as a whole is based on the principle of ensuring the environmental safety of the waste processing process and at the same time achieving such a level of energy efficiency of the technology and installation cost in order to achieve its payback within several years. This creates conditions for the commercialization of the problem of hazardous waste processing in Ukraine. The technology is based on the use of plasma of water vapor and oxygen as an additional source of thermal energy in the reactor volume and reagents in the process of gasification of the hydrocarbon component of the waste. As a result, a combustible synthesis gas nCO + mH2 with a small admixture of CO2 and H2O is formed. The latter contribute to the optimal operation of the gas-diesel power plant, it is used for self-supply of the electric energy of the plant and for its transmission to external consumers. In addition, a significant amount of thermal energy is produced, which can be used in the presence of closely located consumers.
