TRANSFER OF INNOVATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES

MEANS OF INDIVIDUAL OSL-DOSIMETRY OF IONIZING RADIATION

Purpose of the development: The Ukrainian University has developed and proposes to introduce a means to implement a new method of OSL dosimetry of ionizing radiation (AI). Assignment of funds: Individual passive dosimetry to assess the degree of influence of AI on persons who work with AI sources or may be exposed to them in the performance of their duties.

Recommended application field: 1. Nuclear power engineering. 2. Industrial radiation technologies in the chemical, food and pharmaceutical industries, agriculture, radiation treatment and non-destructive testing of materials and products, scientific research. 3. Radiation technologies in medicine (diagnostics, radiation and isotope therapy, minimally invasive surgery). 4. Environmental monitoring, radiological control of man-made safety and food. 5. The security sector (the personnel of the units of the forces of radiation, chemical and biological protection (RCBP), other units of the Armed Forces, units of the Ministry of Emergencies, the State Border Service, the National Guard, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the SBU).

Advantages over analogues: 1) The project offers the means for implementing the new OSL method of AI dosimetry, in comparison with the traditional method of thermoluminescent dosimetry (TLD), which until recently dominated in individual dosimetry, allows to determine the dose of radiation more quickly (within a few tens of seconds). LSD dosimetry technology makes it possible to store an irradiated dosimeter with accumulated dose after partial reading, for example, as evidence, as well as repeated repeated reading of the same dose. 2) Yap: Mn dosimetric material has several advantages over existing dosimetric materials that are used in practice and are available on the market today; the features of the new dosimetric material make it competitive in comparison to not only the limited number of detectors for OSB dosimetry, but also traditional TLD detectors, in particular its chemical, mechanical, radiation and thermal stability, stability of properties and durability, a much broader linear interval of the measured doses, etc. 3) The actual absence of production of personal dosimetry in Ukraine at a time when it is time to change the generation of dosimetry to those that implement the new OSL technology for dosimetry of AI.

The development stage readiness: Ready for application

Technical and economic effect: Possibility for 2-3 years to equip / re-equip domestic consumers with the latest technology of individual dosimetry (at a significantly lower price than required for the import of appropriate funds).

Description of the development:
()
The project is aimed at the development and commercialization of individual passive dosimetry of ionizing radiation (II) based on the most modern method - optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) and a new dosimetric material - YAP: Mn single crystals. The development products are: - an individual dosimeter containing several detectors in a cassette for wearing on clothes; - detectors (sensing elements based on new dosimetric material) contained in the dosimeter; - dose reader (device for determining the absorbed dose of the dosimeter by the OSB method). Project implementation path: development, legal protection, certification of development products; organization of the enterprise for the purpose of setting up the production and sale of dosimetry.
