Purpose of the development: A comprehensive assessment of the ecological status of continental reservoirs is used for long-term monitoring and forecasting, using modern and retrospective materials of Earth remote sensing and ground-based observations.

Recommended application field: Conservation organizations.

Advantages over analogues: Unlike well-known analogues, the development has advantages in simplifying and increasing the efficiency of assessing the ecological status of aquatic ecosystems, covering large water areas and the possibility of studying the retrospective state of water bodies. It makes it possible to identify shallow aqua-landscape complexes that not only affect the water regime, but also is a factor in the formation of physico-chemical and hydrobiological characteristics of the aquatic environment.

The result of the assessment is: - a set of thematic maps of the state of water bodies (types of biotopes, values of vegetation and water index, surface temperature, landscape diversity indicators) of high and medium spatial disunity; - statistical tables with the values of the areas of the selected components and indicators of ground-based observations; - graphical results of modeling and forecasting the state of water bodies. On request, the ecological status of any particular body of water or a complex of reservoirs can be performed.
