IONIC SOILS FOR GROWING PLANTS

Purpose of the development: The research institute offers ion-exchange substrates (ionite soils) for growing and multiplying plants at sites where the use of conventional soils is impossible (in space, at Arctic stations, nuclear icebreakers, etc.).

Recommended application field: - growing plants in artificial conditions; - adaptation of weakened plants in biological research, treatment of domestic plants; - growing seedlings; - reproduction by propagation of decorative crops, grapes, potatoes, etc.; - restoration of nutritive properties of depleted soils without plant transplantation.

Technical characteristic: - substrates are a full-fledged nutrient medium for growing plants, which does not require the introduction of fertilizers during the entire period of use; - contain 4-8% by weight of nutrients available to plants in the exchange osmotically inactive form; - have a neutral reaction, the pH of the aqueous suspension is 6.0 .7.0; - yield without adding additional fertilizers: granular substrates - over 1..3 kg of raw plant biomass with 1 kg of dry substrate; fibrous substrates - over 1..2 kg of raw biomass of plants with 1 kg of substrate.

Advantages over analogues: The developed methods for obtaining substrates of ionic soils allow the creation of new types of ion-exchange nutrient media for specific plants that maximally satisfy their requirements for mineral nutrition. Plants grow well on a clean substrate. It does not cause a root burn and this distinguishes it from all known types of fertilizers.

The development stage readiness: Introduced in production

Technical and economic effect: - allow to stabilize the mineral nutrition of plants for a long time and eliminate the need for periodic fertilizing of fertilizing; - improve the quality of cultivated plants, their appearance, accelerate growth; - do not contain organic additives, seeds of weeds, pests and pathogens of plant diseases; - have an adjustable and specific chemical composition and pH.

Description of the development:
()
The basis of substrates is synthetic and natural (clinoptilolite) ion exchangers, saturated with biogenic macro- and microelements. Granular and fibrous types of ion-exchange substrates have been developed: - granular substrates consist of irregularly shaped granules of orange, yellow, gray color 0.5 .2.5 mm; - fibrous substrates are nonwoven needle-punched (needle-piercing) materials with a thickness of 2. 10 mm of yellow or orange-yellow color. Substrates have been tested in the cultivation and reproduction of a large number of food and ornamental plants. The products grown on them went through a sanitary and hygienic assessment. They can withstand sterilization and autoclaving, after exhaustion can be regenerated by special technology. Substrates have been tested and yielded excellent results in the cultivation of more than 150 species of various plants.
