METHOD FOR EVALUATING THE INFLUENCE OF ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS AND HARMFUL SUBSTANCES ON HUMAN
Purpose of the development:
The method was created to assess the impact of harmful environmental factors (electromagnetic fields and chemicals) on the human body through the assessment of their effects on the state of the cells of the body.
Recommended application field:
The method can be used in biology, ecology, electrotherapy, magnetic therapy, biochemistry, biophysics to monitor and determine the dosage of the biological effects of electromagnetic fields on the human body.
Advantages over analogues:
The implementation of the method is simple and short - the analysis of a single cell sample (30 nuclei) lasts 15-20 minutes. Cell sampling can be carried out in the field with their further research in the laboratory.
The development stage readiness:
Pre-production model is made
Description of the development:
() The method consists in registering the response of individual cells of the buccal epithelium (epithelium of the cheek) of a person, removed from the body, to the action of harmful environmental factors. Environmental factors can be both electromagnetic fields and chemical factors. The cell responds to the influence of harmful factors by the formation of heterochromatin granules in the cell nucleus, which, after staining with orcein, can be seen under a light microscope and counted (figure). After counting the number of granules of heterochromatin in 30-cell nuclei, the average value of the index and its statistical error are determined. The increase in the number of granules of heterochromatin in the nucleus is a quantitative characteristic of the negative influence of the environment on the cell, and therefore on the human body.
