Purpose of the development: The development can be used to effectively immobilize radioactive waste of low and medium levels of activity resulting from the operation of nuclear power plants (NPP).

Recommended application field: Nuclear energy, radiochemical production.

Advantages over analogues: According to the indicators of the final product filling with radioactive waste and the corresponding performance characteristics, the developed materials have no analogues in the world. The use of alkaline cements allows to increase the content of radioactive waste to 20% by weight while maintaining high immobilizing properties (leaching of radioactive components at the level of 10 to the minus 3 degrees - 10 to the minus 5 degrees of mg / g). The material is non-flammable, resistant to biological corrosion, not capable of spontaneous combustion.

The essence of the development is the use of radioactive waste cementing technology in an alkaline cement matrix. Alkaline cement composition for immobilization of liquid radioactive waste of low and medium activity levels, including ground granulated slag, alkaline component and clay component (bentonite, kaolin), is characterized by the fact that in order to simplify the process of cementing, reduce the hardening time of the mixture of alkaline cement and liquid radioactive waste, increase the frost resistance and crack resistance of the final product, increase the content of waste by volume in the cement matrix while maintaining of low strength and low speed and leaching of radionuclides, it additionally contains calcium-containing component in the form of hydrated lime or portland cement, and as the alkaline component contains anhydrous soda ash or its mixture with dry sodium metasilicate five-water.
