Purpose of the development: Protective coatings for products working in aggressive environments and medical implants.

Recommended application field: Electronic and optical devices operating in seawater, in steam, in acids and other corrosive environments. Impregnable temporary implants in medicine. Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Technical characteristic: The technology can be implemented on a vacuum unit with a vacuum of 1 * 10-5 mm Hg. st. and the required size of the vacuum chamber. The implementation of the developed technology on the vacuum unit UVN 74 allows for one technological cycle (2:00) to apply a Teflon film with a thickness of 100-250 nm on 40 substrates of 60x48x0.6 mm3 (0.12 m2). The deposition rate is from 5 to 10 nm per minute.

Advantages over analogues: The main advantage of the proposed technology is the possibility of applying optically transparent protective coatings on optical elements and thicker protective layers on fabrics, medical instruments, electronic printed circuit boards with elements. In addition, the Teflon film is a resistant polymer matrix for organic and inorganic nanoparticles, so Teflon layers are filled can perform additional functions - antibacterial, sensory and others, depending on the filler.

The proposed technology is based on thermal decomposition of massive Teflon in vacuum with activation by an electron cloud and, if necessary, with additional high-frequency discharge treatment (at the beginning of application - for high adhesion, at the end - for surface hardness, while maintaining the flexibility of Teflon film).
