MATERIALS FOR WEAR RESISTANT COATINGS CONTAINING BOR
Purpose of the development:
The development is designed to produce boron-containing coatings on metals and alloys and will increase the durability of parts and tools experiencing surface wear in an abrasive environment or in friction pairs.
Recommended application field:
Engineering, electrical, metallurgical industry, as well as repair and tool production of all industries.
Advantages over analogues:
New technologies for processing metals and alloys are distinguished by the fact that as a result of their application, coatings with higher quality characteristics (increased hardness, depth of coating, less brittleness, roughness, etc.) are obtained on the metal surface, which are promoted by the formation of microcrystalline structures and nanostructures in this coating. The presence of such a coating 1.5-2 times reduces the tendency to brittle fracture of parts in their operating conditions.

Description of the development:
() Ukrainian University has developed a method of complex chemical-heat treatment, which creates a layer of metal borides, which protects the metal from wear and destruction.
The method includes heating in a container containing a boron-containing component with boron carbide and sodium fluoride and a charcoal-carburizer in a saturating medium and holding at a temperature of 950 ° C.
According to an improved technology, it is possible to obtain microcrystalline structures that are hardened in composite laminated materials on the surface of metal alloys. When boring, new reinforcement technologies are used, including the modification of boride and cemented layers on the surface of steel parts - this significantly improves their physical characteristics.
