Purpose of the development: The power supply system with power adjustment by turning off a group of cylinders is designed for installation on a multi-cylinder engine with petrol injection powered by an onboard 12 V network and is aimed at increasing fuel efficiency.

Recommended application field: Such a power system can be used on engines of vehicles in operation. Potential users of this system are enterprises of automobile transport, engine-building enterprises.

Advantages over analogues: It has been established that when half of the cylinders are turned off, the fuel efficiency of the 6H 9.5 / 6.98 gasoline engine in the load range up to 60 Nm improves on average by 15%. Tests of the engine in operating conditions (intermittent modes or acceleration, deceleration) allow to obtain an increase in fuel efficiency by 8.05%. At idle, fuel economy averages 22.86%. When using a catalytic converter, the total mass emissions of harmful substances, reduced to CO, during engine operation on half of the cylinders remain almost unchanged, and in some modes they slightly decrease.

The power supply system of a multi-cylinder engine consists of a fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel cleaning filter, fuel pressure regulator, electromagnetic injectors, fuel distributor, throttle valve, throttle position sensor, idle speed control device, cold start system, air flow meter, air temperature sensors and coolant, oxygen sensor, engine speed sensor, electronic control unit. An electronic injector control unit is added, which at partial loads and at idle, receiving signals from the rotational speed and throttle valve sensors, turns off the engine cylinder group, bridging the electrical current from the nozzles to the ballast resistance. The cylinder shutdown system does not affect the operating parameters of the engine power and ignition control module. Cylinders are disconnected without changing the engine gas exchange parameters.
