Description of the development:

Methanogenic associations that make up the preparation, in the presence of additional sources of carbon and energy, ferment the pair of nitrochlorobenzene, parachloroananiline, phenol and industrial aniline dyes to methane and carbon dioxide. Under anaerobic conditions, microorganisms use organic substrates as electron donors and restore the aromatic ring, followed by its destruction and the formation of C6 - containing fatty acids and alcohols. The restoration of the aromatic ring is a key step in the preparatory metabolism of organic xenobiotics and leads to the formation of non-toxic and easily digestible by microorganisms compounds (fatty acids and alcohols) from toxic, stable aromatic compounds. Further, these compounds are fermented by methanogenic associations with the formation of methane and carbon dioxide. Thus, the reduction of aromatic derivatives, which microorganisms use as nonspecific electron acceptors, makes it possible to ferment a wide range of environmentally hazardous and toxic aromatic compounds (phenol and its derivatives, including anaylin dyes, pesticides, insecticides) to methane, which is a valuable energy carrier .
