TRANSFER OF INNOVATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES

LASER STRENGTHENING OF THE WORKING SURFACES OF MILL DETAILS FOR SOY PROCESSING

Purpose of the development: The Ukrainian Institute has developed and tested a new laser hardening technology for the grinding drum, which compares favorably with the hardening methods widely used in the industry (bulk, gas-plasma hardening, high-frequency current, various types of chemical-thermal treatment) versatility, flexibility, high productivity, simple automation.

Recommended application field: Agriculture.

Advantages over analogues: Production tests of drums subjected to laser processing ensured an increase in the productivity of continuous operation of the drum by a factor of 5.

The development stage readiness: Ready for application

Description of the development:
()
The main part of the mill for the processing of soybeans, on which the reliability of its work depends, is the drum knife. The knife is in contact with soybean seeds and is subject to wear. High specific pressure, the presence of abrasive particles, aggressive environment, high rotational speeds lead to increased wear, stopping of continuous high-performance production cycle and, as a consequence, large material losses. Microcracks, abrasive wear cause rounding of the cutting edges of the knife, as a result - a sharp decline in the performance of the machine. Laser processing of the drum working surfaces (lateral edges of rectangular longitudinal grooves) made of steel 40X13 allows forming a structure in the surface layer of edges that cannot be obtained by any of the known thermal treatment methods. This structure has an extremely high dispersion, uniform distribution of alloying elements and strengthening phases, increased hardness up to 9500 - 10000 MPa to a depth of 1 mm, inertness to the action of aggressive media. This condition of the surface layer of the working areas of the drum provides high resistance to abrasive, adhesive, fatigue and other types of wear.
