ALUMINUM HEAT PIPES WITH THREAD CAPILLARY STRUCTURE


Purpose of the development: For cooling LED lighting.

Recommended application field: Lighting, electronics, instrumentation, industrial heat engineering, alternative energy.

Technical characteristic: The maximum length of experimental samples of heat pipes (TT) is 830 mm, diameter is 12 mm, coolants are freon 141b, isobutane and n-pentane. Heat pipes are characterized by a relatively small mass: the mass of TT with freon 141b with a wall thickness of 1 mm was 89.1 g., with a wall thickness of 1.5 mm - 108, 9 g, TT with isobutane with a wall thickness of 1.5 mm - 108, 2 g, TT with n-pentane with a wall thickness of 2 mm - 135.9 g

Advantages over analogues: The results obtained correspond to the world level. The developed aluminum heat pipes (TT) with a threaded capillary structure are 3.28 times lighter than similar copper TTs with a metal-fiber capillary structure, reduce the luminaire weight from five TTs by 1.24-1.55 kg and reduce its cost by using more lightweight material and simplify capillary structure.

The development stage readiness: Ready for application

Technical and economic effect: The potential amount of energy savings when introducing, for example, 1000 units of LED chandeliers with five horns with aluminum TTs with such LED modules, will be 1 million 642 thousand 500 kW oh per year due to the fact that the LED lamp consumes when emitting the same luminous flux 120 W of electricity, which is 5-10 times less than with incandescent bulbs (600-1200 W).

Description of the development:

For the first time, new design and technological solutions for the creation of gravitational aluminum heat pipes with a threaded capillary structure, which is made in the form of a metric thread on the inner surface of the heat pipe body in the evaporation zone, have been developed and investigated. Such heat pipes, in contrast to existing aluminum heat pipes with omega-shaped grooves, are more technologically advanced in production, which allows them to be manufactured in the conditions of existing small domestic enterprises, makes them cheaper to produce and increases competitiveness.
