TRANSFER OF INNOVATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES

DISTRIBUTED ATMOSPHERIC AIR MONITORING SYSTEM OF A SMART CITY BASED ON IoT


Purpose of the development: It is proposed to develop a hardware-software system for assessing air quality based on satellite data and a network of ground sensors in the IoT concept. The system will operate in a cloud environment, the received data will be available through a web service and a mobile application in 24/7 mode.

Recommended application field: Local authorities and state bodies, public environmental organizations, international organizations for the control of emissions of harmful substances in accordance with international agreements, interested members of the company, developers to provide objective information to their customers, travel companies.

Advantages over analogues: The innovations of the developed solution consist in the use of fundamentally new data from the developed sensors and in the merging of these data with modern satellite products for assessing air quality. This will ensure monitoring of the entire city on a regular basis. Hardware innovations: a multifunctional and low-cost sensor of its own design, exceeds analogues in all respects, will ensure the creation of a fundamentally new mass system of ground measurements in the form of IoT; real-time transmission of geo-referenced data over the Internet, processing in the cloud. Software Innovation: Latest Satellite Data and Air Quality Assessment Products (Sentinel-5P); the latest authoring algorithms for merging data from all possible sources (satellite and terrestrial data); fundamentally new satellite products of high spatial resolution due to the use of measurements from a dense network of ground sensors (crowd sourcing) and modern copyright methods of data fusion based on machine learning.

A hardware-software system for monitoring air quality at the city level is proposed (Kiev - pilot). The innovativeness of the system is based on a complex of low-cost sensors instead of one integrated sensor, and the integration of ground-based measurements with modern satellite products for air quality assessment (Sentinel-5P). The author’s methods of data fusion based on machine learning will allow to obtain a fundamentally new monitoring product - a map of high-resolution air pollution in real time. Sensors will interact based on the IoT concept, in the future - support for mobile gadgets, phones, smart watches, sports trackers, etc. Information will be provided through a developed geoportal and a mobile application that will allow you to visualize the level of pollution by mapping data on the quality of air. The implementation of the platform is based on the current results and experience gained by the authors of this project during the implementation of the international project ERA-PLANET / SMURBS of the H2020 program.
