Purpose of the development: The lightning counter is designed to count and store the number of lightning pulses taken away in such lightning protection systems as active lightning rods, Franklin rods (lightning rods), a Faraday cage, etc. A lightning counter is necessary in order to determine whether a lightning protection installation has received a lightning strike.

The lightning counter is connected to the lightning receiving line “in series”, senses the pulse current to which the lightning discharge current leads, and registers each pulse with a numbering device. Using the lightning counter, you can monitor the operation of the lightning protection system, counting the number of "intercepted" lightning strikes, and also record the functionality of the system. No special service is required for the testing device within the limits of working limits. Also for work there will be no need for an additional power source.
