MATERIALS FOR THE GENERATION OF THERMOELECTRIC ENERGY IN THE FIELD OF TEMPERATURES 150-500 ° С


Purpose of the development: The proposed development can be implemented for direct conversion of waste heat into electrical energy. The technology of materials that are today the most effective in the field of average temperatures of 150-500 ° C is proposed.

Recommended application field: Energy.

Advantages over analogues: Materials are characterized by high values of thermoelectric figure of merit ZT ° ~ 0.5-2.2. The predicted values of the efficiency of devices based on such materials are about 7-12% instead of 3-6% of today's industrial thermoelectric modules.

Thermoelectric energy is one of the safest and longest in operation, for its generation there is no need to use complex systems, and designs do not contain moving parts. A technology has been developed for the synthesis of multicomponent semiconductor materials such as PbTe, SnTe, PbSnTe, PbTe-Bi2 (Sb2) Te3, LAST (Pb-Ag-Sb-Te), LATT (Pb-Ag-SnTe) with orderly introduced nanoinclusions. The technology was developed and tested on modern equipment purchased with funds from the NATO Science Program Project (SfPG4536; 2014-2016).
