Purpose of the development: To protect the sides of deep pits when installing buried structures, such as basements for various purposes, elevators for sorting grain at elevators, underground storage and the like.

Advantages over analogues: Today, cement-cement protective walls are widely used in the world to protect the sides of deep pits, however, the proposed development provides for the installation of massive retaining walls that provide sufficient stability for the sides of the pits. The proposed method of arranging retaining walls is more cost-effective than traditional methods of protecting the sides of deep pits.

The design of the retaining wall provides for the device of the required number of rows of secant soil-cement elements to create a continuous massive protective wall of the pit. This massif has sufficient rigidity to absorb horizontal loads from the soil. In addition, given the significant watertightness of soil cement, such a wall can be used when pits are set below groundwater level.
