MOLDED POROUS METALS FOR MICROCAPILLARY HEAT PIPES


Purpose of the development: The developed porous metals are intended for the manufacture of heat pipes having high heat transfer characteristics.

Recommended application field: The developed porous material has a great demand for use in modern electronics for the manufacture of small but powerful heat sinks for power elements.

The development stage readiness: Pre-production model is made

Technical and economic effect: The use of developed materials will significantly improve the working conditions of heat sinks and reduce the size of the equipment.

Description of the development:

It is proposed to produce heat pipes from copper cast porous capillary materials for use as powerful heat sinks in electronics. The thermal conductivity of capillary materials is affected not only by the heat carrier used, but also by the amount of heat power that is supplied to it. An analysis of the laws governing the influence of the magnitude of thermal power, the type of coolant, and also the orientation of pores in capillary porous materials from copper on their thermal conductivity showed that it is 200-400 times higher than in monolithic samples.
