Purpose of the development: The development relates to self-extinguishing polymer compositions with reduced flammability and smoke generation based on epoxy resin.

Recommended application field: Development to be used for the manufacture of protective coatings, bulk floors, sealants, putties, compounds for various purposes.

Advantages over analogues: The developed composition does not contain halogens and is characterized by reduced flammability and low smoke generating ability.

Description of the development:

The use of new flame retardants hardeners manifests itself in a multiple increase in the ignition and self-ignition temperatures of the compositions, an increase in the duration of reaching the maximum temperature of the gaseous products of combustion, and a decrease in the mass loss during combustion. Introduction to the epoxyamine compositions of the proposed flame retardants hardeners leads to an increase in their thermal stability and a significant decrease in the temperature of completion of the combustion process of the compositions, which indicates the self-extinguishing nature of the combustion process of the modified compositions. Epoxyamine compositions that contain the proposed flame retardants hardeners do not spread flame and are classified in the highest category of resistance to burning when tested with a Bunsen burner. The effectiveness of the proposed flame retardants-hardeners is manifested in the reduction of smoke during combustion and decay of the compositions.
