OPTICAL GLASS WITH A RANGE OF TRANSMISSION FROM 0.4 TO 5.5 MKM


Purpose of the development: The Ukrainian Institute has developed optical short-wave (SWIR) and mid-infrared (MWIR) glasses that can be used as lenses in optical-electronic devices such as thermal imagers (thermal imaging sights, cameras, scanners and modules), quantum cascade lasers, reconnaissance lasers, multispectral cameras and others.

Recommended application field: The scope of SWIR and MWIR ranges is diverse: perimeter protection, border and seaport control, twilight and night vision, vision through smoke and fog, surveillance and surveillance systems for drivers, detection of outbreaks, enemy fire, detection of fires, etc.

Advantages over analogues: Traditional methods for developing new glasses are rather laborious and require significant material costs for experimental research. It is possible to significantly reduce the volume of experiments by using calculation methods for evaluating the properties of glasses, which can significantly reduce energy and resource consumption for the development of chemical compositions of optical glasses with specified operational characteristics.

A feature of the developed technology is the one-stage manufacture of optical glass with a minimum absorption band in the region of 2.7-4.0 m (absorption band —OH groups). In the production of modern optoelectronic devices, special TBF optical glass is used, which transmits infrared rays in the wavelength range of 0.4-5.5 ?m and is characterized by a high refractive index (1,956) with a low value of the average dispersion coefficient (0,0425). Glass with the indicated properties is not produced in Ukraine. The developed optical glasses help to reduce the dependence of domestic enterprises on imported components and materials, strengthen the position of Ukrainian manufacturers in world markets, increase the defense capability and national security of Ukraine.
