METHOD AND EQUIPMENT FOR DIAMOND TOOL FABRICATION


Purpose of the development: Cost-effective diamond tool fabrication by direct electric sintering.

Technical characteristic: Tchnicalcharacteristics of a semi-automated plant for electric contact sintering: - Current,max, kА 19±19; - Power,max, kVА 124±12; - Load,max, N 6300; - Sintering cycle,s 1-198; - Productivity, items/sec. 20; - Overal dimensions, cm. 760х1970х590; - Weight, kg. 360. Operating ccharacteristics: - Processed surface roughness (for optical glass), mcm 0,05-0,08; - Processing time, min. 3-5.

Advantages over analogues: Use of diamond-containing components allows for a 1,5 to 2-fold - increase in productivity of optical component polishing and a 1,2 to 1,8-fold decrease in relative energy consumption of final polishing.

The developed method and equipment provide quick and effective sintering of metal powder (Cu, Ni, Co etc) with diamantine. The method is promising for industrial production of dressing diamonds, diamond annular drills the diameter of 8-20 mm, diamond pellets with diameter of 10-20 mm and height of 8-12 mm.
