Institute of Surface Chemistry National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine developed a highly hydrophobic oil adsorbent TU 259-003-94 88 in the form of webs or mats with a special coating_ Sorption capacity of it - from 30 to 50 g per 1 g of the material (depending on the type of oil), as opposed to other adsorbents (especially powder - carbon graphite, perlite, etc.), it is convenient to use: not carried by the wind, not settle on bottom of reservoir, can be used repeatedly after regeneration by pressing or firing_ A distinctive feature is its ability to absorb oil that are lit. The sorbent was tested: has a conclusion of the Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine from 04.10.1994 № 22/04-02-1013 and was recommended for use in accordance with the Order № 2012 from 09.11.2004, the heads of KCSA. Sorbent use in case of emergency oil spill in the south-western railway, as well as the localization of oil pollution in many enterprises, have shown its high efficiency and ease of use.
