20,5% of the blind are people with the optical nerve atrophy. The main signs of the optical nerve atrophy are: disturbance of visual functions - decrease in visual acuity; contraction of the peripheral boundaries of vision limits, central defects of the field of vision; pallor of the optical nerve disk. The alternating magnetic field with frequency of 50Hz andtension up to 15mT is used as monotherapy for the optical nerve atrophy treatment, including that against the background of multiple sklerosis. The treatment results in improvement of visual acuity, enlargement of the vision limits boundaries, ZVP data improvement, stimulating of conducting excitation from the retina to the subcortical and crustvisual centers. The treatment is perfomed on the magnetotherapeutic instalation "Master". Among the reasons, that cause the atrophy of optical nerve, 50% are diseases of the central nervous system. 45-70% ofatrophies are related to on multiple sclerosis - the chronic inflammatory demyelinating disease of the nervous system with multiple stricken areas, predominantly in the central nervous system. In the world there are aver 2 m. people suffering from this illness. Treatment carried out employing the developed procedure brings about, jointly with an increase in the visual acuity, expansion of boundaries of vision limits, improvement in ZVP indices, an improvement in the visual functions: descrease of doubling and nystagmus, pathologic cerebellar symptomatology. Nerve impulse conductance along the sensitive and motor nerves improves, which is confirmed by myographic studies. The treatment cures vertigo, decreases the unsteadiness of gait, pain syndrome, paresthesias, muscles constraint. The treatment method is simple, atraumatic and effective.
