Technical characteristic: Latera beds make these activities easier and safer for nurses, because there are three essential effects in all described lateral tilt assisted procedures: - Saving of energy for patient side rotation by 30% compared to bed without al lateal tilt ; - 10 times lower force necessary for patient rotation compared to bed without a lateral tilt; - Saving time (depending on the type of performed activity) by up to 20%. Positionable bed Latera Care and Latera Acute is equipped with both sided lateral tilt ±15° and therefore it is an ideal device for treatment of immobile patients in long term hospital departaments, nursing homes or home care. Lateral tilt helps caregivers to perform routine nursing activites with minimum physical effort. The bed enables the height and tilt adjustment, positionig of the mattress platform sections - all by means of electric motors. Numerous daily nursing activities in hospital and nursing homes bring physically demanding manipulation with pertially or fully immobile petient. Lots of these activities are typically perfomed in lateral position of the patient, or reguest for lateral novement of him. Typical examples of these activities are: bed making, patient toilet, re-dressing, patient hygiene, dorsal body parts treatments, positioning in pressure sores prevention, drainages support, transfer from the bed to the stretcher or to the operation table, transfer of patients with paraplegia to the chair. Many disabled persons recruited from the previously hospitalized patients with para or quadriplegia are still confined to the bed and they need an assintance of the relavives or close friends even after the leaving to home care. In these cases the lateral tilt can help home caregiver in similar activities done also by professionals in hospitals - but in the home surroundings. Due to the effects of saving energy and force, the Latera bed will transform heavy physically demanding work into an activity that even a small child can perform.
