Intellectual property is an integral part of modern society, covering rights to inventions, works of authorship, trademarks, designs and other intellectual property. In the context of rapid global progress, the transformation of digital technologies, the dynamic development of production, innovation and business, the rights to the results of human intellectual activity are of particular importance. These processes require a new approach to the legal assessment and protection of intellectual property, the essence of which is to recognize the right of authorship (invention) to such an object by the relevant person (individual or legal entity) who created the corresponding object of intellectual property.
Back in April 2009, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) decided to launch a pilot project to create a Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) in Ukraine. The process of creating the TISC network was started by signing on July 23, 2018, (Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine and WIPO).
Since 2023, TISC (nipo.gov.ua) has been operating on the basis of UkrISTEI, which is an atypical international project to support invention, innovation and start-up projects, providing inventors with access to patent, scientific and technical databases, assistance in licensing and technology transfer, provides information and advisory support and services for the protection of intellectual property, commercialization and promotion of innovations in the technological markets of Ukraine and abroad, ensures the protection and management of rights.
