Abstract. The scientific and analytical note was prepared based on the results of a study of promising global scientific and technological research areas in the field of "Laser systems and means of countering damage by laser weapons" in the direction of critical technologies "Technologies for creating an element base of laser systems and means of countering damage by laser weapons". The study was conducted at the Ukrainian Institute of Scientific and Technical Expertise and Information on the basis of publications in the international database Web of Science and patents in the international database Derwent Innovation for the period 2019-2023, which do not contain information classified as a state secret, using a synthesis of scientometric and patent analysis methods using an updated methodology.
Based on the results of the study, the authors drew conclusions about the received priority and promising scientific and technological areas in the field under study. The definition of scientific and technological trends was carried out with the aim of possible consideration of the obtained results when developing and making relevant decisions regarding scientific and technological areas of research, technical re-equipment, modernization and reform of the defense-industrial complex of Ukraine.
