Abstract. A foresight analysis to monitoring critical technologies in the field of armaments and military equipment was conducted. The analysis was carried out to technology trends in the direction of scientific and technical researches of the use of information technologies in the military sphere, by the method of data evaluation from international scientometric and patent databases.
The research was carried out using the international platforms Web of Science and Derwent Innovation.
For determining the innovation trends, monitoring the global technology trends, identifying promising achievements in scientific and technical developments in the sphere of ICT, the following was carried out: analysis of publications by foreign and national scientists by 2019-2023 to assess the current state of ICT in the military sphere; a list of «keywords» for searching according to United Supply Classification Handbook was formed; the most common codes of the International Patent Classification in the military sphere of ICT were determined; patent activity and the rate of patenting in the world and in Ukraine were researched.
According to the result of the scientometric analysis of publication (Web of Science) and patent (Derwent Innovation) databases on the subject of «Information technologies in the military sphere» in the world, the prediction of promising directions of weapons and defense technologies, systems and programs were identified.
As a result of the scientometric analysis of the Web of Science and Derwent Innovation databases on the topic of «Information technologies in the military sphere» in Ukraine, the most promising directions were determined.
The scientific and analytical note also identified the global most promising patent sub-directions according to the International Patent Classification.
The publication is intended for representatives of state authorities, researchers, university lecturers, postgraduate students and students of relevant specialties.
