Abstract. The analytical reference was prepared based on the results of monitoring the implementation of priority areas of development of science and technology in Ukraine in 2024. The research was conducted at the Ukrainian Institute of Scientific and Technical Expertise and Information based on information received from the main managers of budget funds, in accordance with the requirements of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated April 30, 2024 № 476. The work provides information on the financial support and effectiveness of scientific research and scientific-technical (experimental) developments carried out in 2024 in the priority directions of the development of science and technology in terms of budget financing directions, types of created scientific (scientific-technical) products.
Based on the results of the research, the most financed and effective priority directions were determined, attention was focused on maintaining the trend of unjustification of the choice of priorities based on a combination of different selection criteria – type of scientific research (for fundamental research) and their thematic orientation (for the other six priorities of the applied direction).
The results obtained may be taken into account by state authorities when developing and adopting government decisions on defining and adjusting the list of priority areas of science and technology development.
