Abstract. The monograph is dedicated to the results of a scientific study on the prospects of scientific and technological directions in the field of production of weapons and military equipment in the direction "Creation of means of destruction and protection against them", which was conducted at the Ukrainian Institute of Scientific and Technical Expertise and Information. The research was carried out on the basis of publications in the international database Web of Science and patents in the international database Derwent Innovation for the period 2019-2023, which do not contain information classified as a state secret, using a synthesis of scientometric and patent analysis methods according to the updated methodology. The purpose of the study is to determine the priority (most promising) and promising scientific and technological directions in the field of production of weapons and military equipment in the direction "Creation of means of destruction and protection against them".
In order to determine scientific and technological trends in the direction of "Creation of means of damage and protection against them", a scientific study was conducted on the prospects of scientific and technological directions in the fields of: "Opto-electronic devices of the infrared range of the spectrum", "Artillery weapons", "Laser systems and means of countermeasures against damage by laser weapons" using the methods of scientometric and patent analysis, which are one of the modern research tools aimed at identifying technological trends. According to the results of the study, the authors made conclusions about the received priority (most promising) and promising scientific and technological directions in the direction of "Creation of means of destruction and protection against them" and the possible consideration of the obtained results in the development and adoption of relevant decisions regarding scientific and technological directions of research, technical re-equipment, modernization and reform of the defense-industrial complex of Ukraine in the field of arms production and military equipment.
