Abstract. Resolution No. 600 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine defines aviation and space technology and critical components for it as one of the critical technologies in the field of armaments and military equipment. This paper presents the results of scientometric and patent analyses to identify scientific and technological trends in this area. To this end, scientific research was conducted on: 1) summarizing the forecasts and results of foresight studies by leading global organizations – NATO and the National Defense and Industrial Association, the European Defense Agency (EDA); 2) analyzing publications in the international Web of Science database that do not contain information classified as state secrets; 3) patent analysis based on the Derwent Innovation international patent database, which does not contain information classified as state secrets.
It has been determined that global trends in the modern development of the field under study, as identified on the basis of publications by international organizations, include the following innovative solutions: big data, information and communication technologies, artificial intelligence, robotics and autonomous systems, hypersonic technologies, energy and motion, electronics, and electromagnetics.
The priority scientific and technological areas, identified on the basis of scientometric and patent analyses, are: military drones; control surfaces; parachutes; aviation onboard systems for loading (receiving cargo without landing) and delivering cargo to the ground; autonomous hypersonic vehicles; miniaturization, small satellites; hybrid-electric aircraft engines; use of robotic decoys; human-machine collaboration and communication; intelligent flight control; intelligent autonomy; swarm-centric systems.
The main technologies in the priority areas of aircraft (especially UAVs) and their component parts include: information and communication technologies, in particular automated design, position, course, altitude, or orientation control, motion control systems; machine learning, neural networks, support vector machines; biological modeling, numerical modeling, 3D modeling, etc.; combined devices that indicate more than one navigation value; communication technologies, in particular radio communication systems; control technologies; silicon technologies or silicon carbide technologies, etc.

Keywords: critical technologies, scientometric analysis, patent analysis, scientific and technological trends.
